EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Forty years after the New York Giants won their first Super Bowl, fans got to step back into that season at a pop-up fan experience at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, October 4. Every graphic at the pop-up was created under Globol Spin’s creative direction. Globol Spin Inc. is the creative agency behind brand work for names including Gucci and Vice.
The public activation marked the 40th anniversary of Super Bowl XXI, giving fans a place to relive the 1986 championship run and celebrate a team that changed the franchise’s story.
The championship behind the celebration
On January 25, 1987, the Giants beat the Denver Broncos 39–20 in Super Bowl XXI at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. It was the franchise’s first Super Bowl win and its first NFL title since 1956.
Quarterback Phil Simms was named MVP after completing 22 of 25 passes, a Super Bowl record for completion percentage. Under head coach Bill Parcells, and with a defense led by Lawrence Taylor, that team became the standard Giants fans still measure every season against.
Designing the fan experience

All of the graphics at the pop-up were created under Globol Spin’s creative direction, from the large-format visuals that drew fans in to the displays that carried the story of the 1986 season. The work had to do two jobs at once: honor a piece of franchise history and give a stadium crowd something worth stopping for, photographing and sharing.
For Globol Spin, the project drew on roughly 25 years of building brand experiences. The challenge with an anniversary is that fans already know the story. Good design doesn’t retell it so much as frame it, letting the moments people remember feel big again.
“Super Bowl XXI is part of New York’s sports DNA. Forty years later, fans still remember where they were when the Giants won it. Our job was to make that feeling visible again, with displays that respect the history and still give today’s fans a reason to stop, take a picture, and share it. Being trusted with a moment that means this much to this city is something our whole team is proud of.” — Marc Esannason, Globol Spin Inc. CEO
Why activations like this matter
Sports brands live on memory, and anniversaries are one of the few times a team can sell nostalgia without apology. A pop-up turns that nostalgia into a place: fans walk through it, react to it, and post it, which carries the moment well beyond the stadium.
The graphics do most of that work. In a busy stadium setting, visuals have seconds to catch someone’s eye and tell them where they are and why it matters. Getting the scale, hierarchy, and history right is what separates a display people walk past from one they line up for.
